Scholarships for Graduating Seniors
We are proud to oversee more than 32 diverse scholarship opportunities for graduating seniors. In 2025, 56 extraordinary students were awarded with more than $233,000 in total scholarships. Awardees continue to mirror the unique diversity of Milwaukee, representing 14 of MPS’ high schools; 82% are first-generation students and 96% are students of color. Scholarships are supporting support careers in an array of fields, including Law, Engineering, Arts, Pre-Med, Social Work, Astrophysics, Business, Nursing, and many more.
Our Process
Each year, the MPS Foundation works with our community partners, including MPS high school guidance staff, principals, College and Career Centers staff, and College Possible, to communicate about our scholarship opportunities and recruit students to apply. Prospective seniors interested in MPS Foundation scholarships complete an online application detailing their background, academic journey, and college aspirations. The system screens these forms, guiding students on which scholarships they are eligible to apply for.
The process is student-friendly, with weekly reports to partners about application progress. An impartial review team drawn from academia and nonprofits evaluates each application, averaging scores for a final ranking. MPSF staff then ensure candidates meet scholarship criteria. Students can earn only one MPS Foundation award; the highest-ranking student for multiple scholarships receives the most valuable one, with other recipients following the numerical ranking.
